the liver and its function in the human body

What is the liver?
The liver is one of the most vital organ in the body of a mammal. The average weight of the liver is about 1.2 kg. It lies below the diaphragm and is located on the right side of the abdomen

Where can we find the liver in the human body?
Deliver lies below the diaphragm and it located on the right side of the abdomen. it partly overlaps or covers his stomach.

How does the Liver look like
The liver is dark red in colour and is divided into lobes. Each lobe is further subdivided into smaller lobes
The gallbladder which stores the bile is connected to the duodenum by a  short tube call the bile duct.
Here to this bile duc here to this bile duct the Liver secrete the bile responsible for the emulsification of fat.
Deliver as one of the strong organs of the body is able to control major metabolic activities within the body

Having looked at what the liver is, and how they liver looks like and where it is located in the body let us go on to look at the functions of the it too

Major functions of the liver in the body
The lever that is found closely to the abdomen of every living mammal can perform the following functions
1. the Liver regulate blood sugar.
One of the major function of the liver is that it is capable of converting excess glucose into glycogen that is normal starch, this function of liver is carried out under the influence of a hormone called insulin

2. Detoxification function of the liver
Deliver can also convert materials  such as drugs, alcohol etc. So right in the body the Liver hurts to convert the harmless substances which are later excreted

3. The Liver helps in regulation of blood protein
The body cells cannot store excess amino acid in the body. So deliver therefore deaminate excess amino acid.
Deamination if the process by which excess amino acid are splitted into two components, (RNH2) and the carboxyl group (COOH) the amIno group which is poisonous and toxic is converted into harmless urea and excreted while the carboxyl group is processed into carbohydrates are stored in the Liver as glycogen

4. The Liver helps in the production of bile
The liver is the main organ known to produce or synthesized while the gallbladder stones the by itself. It is important to know that the bile formed is transported to the duodenum through the bile duct
One of the major functions of the bile is that it is that it aids emulsification of fats which enhance its digestion and absorption

5. The Liver helps in the formation of red blood cells
In the foetus or embryo, the Liver forms the red blood cells. (Erythrocytes) but in the adult, the marrow of the long bones form the red blood cells

6. The Liver helps to produce heat in the body
The activities of the liver generate heat which helps to maintain the body temperature

7. It helps in the regulation of lipids
Deliver also remove lipid from the blood converts them to glucose and oxidizes them to release energy during aerobic respiration

8. The Liver manufactures essential protein
One major function of the liver is the manufacture of most of the central blood proteins like fibrinogen, prothrombin, globulin  etc

9. The Liver helps in the breakdown of red blood cells
The liver is responsible for the breaking down or worn-out red blood cells in adult

10 it stores iron
Delivery stores iron obtained from the breakdown of red blood corpuscles

11. Liver helps in the storage of vitamins
The Liver helps in the manufacture of Vitamin A from carotene and also helps in the storage of fat-soluble vitamin B12 and

12. Act as blood Reservoir
Deliver act as blood Reservoir as it contains many capillaries and blood spacies with a large volume of blood
